WEll, my second week at the Today Show has not been anything less than awesome! I worked about 63 hours this week, but it only feels like parttime, because I am having so much fun as well as going a thousand miles an hour.
Now when most people go a thousand miles an hour, they want to slow down-it carries a negative connotation...however, I LOVE it, and don't want to slow down. This week I got to help out with 30 Rock and meet the crew as well as Jane Krakowski and Tracy Morgan. The whole team was a blast to work with and I got an inside look at the Production Management side of things. I worked closely with our (Today Show's) Production Manager and she is top of her game cool. She knows what she's doing.
I also was paired up with another producer this week and had such a blast with her. However, the plane went down here-you all know the one, that landed in the Hudson River and due to that I was able to experience the newsroom in the moment of BREAKING NEWS- everything shifts over to light speed and people running around. It was awful what happened, but I was able to see how the newsroom reacts and pulls together as a team to do our job.
Due to the fact that this all happened, my producer had to shift her focus over and I was able to conduct an interview for part of the segment as well as run some B-Roll footage...awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so inspiring that I have such driven people around me and it only makes the fire in my heart for journalism brighter!
It has been an amazing time and I feel like I have been here longer. I still am in a trance while out in NYC-although I am proud to say that my pace blends in and I am no longer the tourist:)
This city is beyond words and I feel like I really fit in here-it's almost impossible not to fit in, beacuse there is so much diversity and such a variety of people here!
Well, that's been my week (in a nutshell) and I can't wait for Monday!
